Individuals, who are at risk of long term unemployment or recurring unemployment and require skills training, may be eligible for financial assistance with training costs.

An RDK Career Consultant will assist you with training needs assessment which addresses the following:

• Work history/transferable skills analysis
• Job search activity
• Job search skills
• Career decision making process
• Occupational and labour market research
• Specification of existing skills and strengths
• Identification of any barriers to employment
• Determination of skills/supports needed to address barriers
• Consideration of individual needs including financial
• Training availability and location
• Action plan steps

Your application for training funding is forwarded to the Provincial Government office, where responsibility for decisions about eligibility and funding are made. A minimum of 6 weeks processing time is normally required for your complete application, including RDK's involvement in assessing your application for support or non-support.  A government representative will advise you of the status of your application. The following are some of the requirements.

• Eligibility for employment insurance benefits within the past 3 years (or 5 if maternity/parental claim). Please note that eligibility is determined by the date the Government receives the completed application. RDK requires a reasonable amount of time to process the application with you, including lead time to arrange an appointment.
• An assessed need for vocational skills training in order to become employed.
• A financial need for tuition assistance or other expenses.
